When I saw the pattern preview for Gudrun Johnston's new book I was taken right back to my childhood. Not just the warm orange and brown colour scheme but the zig zag stripes and the smock-like bodices and knitted dresses and don't get me started on the balloon sleeves!

All the patterns (except for a lace neckerchief) use 4ply yarns - either Jamieson's of Shetland or Jamieson and Smith. But the patterns have quantities listed in length too, so you can raid your stash for other 4plys too. You could get very creative with come multi coloured zig zags.
