Fantoosh by Kate Davies, available on Ravelry
Fantoosh by Kate Davies is a top-down triangular shawl with an all over lace pattern.
There are two sizes but you can adjust the number of repeats to make a different size. It is written for 4ply yarn - but you could knit it another weight. Just adjust your needle size and quantities.
This large Fantoosh! is knitted by Sabine using 3 shade of Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply - 602 Copper Tones, 635 Maple Syrup and 632 Burnished.
Sabine 'faded' the colour transitions by working a few stripes when introducing a new shade, creating a blended effect.
To knit your own Fantoosh you'll need a 3.75mm circular needle, 100cm long, and some stitch markers.
You'll find our range of Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply here and our 4ply collection here. The large size needs about 730m of yarn (the smaller one 365m).
And the pattern is on Ravelry.
It is essential to block your shawl, to open up the lace stitches and make the shawl the correct size.
Blocking in this case means soaking your shawl, squishing out the water and stretching and pinning it into shape.
You can use blocking wires to pull your shawl into shape or just use pins. You can even use some thick cotton yarn too.
You'll find some photo tutorials at Tin Can Knits and Ysolda.
We have wool wash and T-pins online and in the Pittenweem shop. We do have blocking wires in the Pittenweem shop. Unfortunately they are a bit awkward to post so they are not available online.
