size medium (to fit 38-44") with a finished size of 53.5" shown on 38" mannequin.
Capo is an armholed poncho... so the easy-wear of a poncho, but you can use your hands easily.😆
The pattern is by Elizabeth Smith, and available to buy on Ravelry and Elizabeth's website.
It is knitted from the bottom up on circular needles. The armholes are easily made. You just cast off some stitches then on the next round cast them back on.
If you want it longer, make sure to check the length from under the arm to the hem. To add length work more rows before you do the armholes.
We used West Yorkshire Spinners Retreat to knit ours. This blue marled shade is now discontinued but we’ve got lots of lovely shades.
For this middle size, we used 5 balls.
It also works really well in Rico Melange Chunky too.
Elizabeth has also designed a finer weight version of Capo called Capolette. It uses a sport or DK weight yarn. You can find the pattern on Ravelry and on Elizabeth's website.
For both patterns she also has a tips page with lots of help from picking a size, to adding length and blocking.
If you like simple shapes and seamless knitting, I'd highly recommend all of Elizabeth Smith's patterns.
And if you like ponchos, check out our Route 66 too.
