Sunshine Coast

New shop sample in the shop. This one was kindly given to us by Anne (in case you're wondering why it never appeared in the Coffee Table Updates).

Knitted using West Yorkshire Spinners Elements DK, Sunshine Coast is a swingy sweater with beautiful shaping and stitch detailing. Designed by Heidi Kirrmaier the pattern is available to buy on Ravelry. If you like the understated style of Sunshine Coast then definitely check out Heidi's other patterns.

The pattern has a range of sizes from 32" (81cm) to 54" (137cm) bust size. The designer recommends 0.5 - 3" of positive ease at the bust. That is, 0.5 - 3" bigger than your bust measurement. It looks a little big on our mannequin especially as it has no arms!

Knitted from the top down this is a seamless sweater - no sewing up.

You use short rows to raise the back and shape the neck edge. The designer uses Yarn Over Short Rows. Full instructions are given including a link to a photo tutorial at Coco Knits.

The underarm stitch detailing is achieved through simple increasing and decreasing. You keep track of them by using stitch markers. The pattern includes a handy diagram showing their placement. It helps if the stitch markers are different shapes or colours.

The WYS Elements DK yarn gives the sweater a lovely drape and sheen. It would make a great transitional piece between summer warmth and winter chills.
