Plume
Plume is a super soft and squishy poncho knitted in Rowan Alpaca Soft.
Designed by Martin Storey, and part of a larger collection called Carousel, it features a striking colourwork pattern around the yoke.
For our Plume I used shade Hunter Green (214) and Rainy Day (210) for the feathers. You need 5 and 2 balls for this size, to fit bust 32"-38". There is also a larger size to fit bust 40"-46" which uses the same amount.
As the design uses only one contrast colour it is a relatively simple knit.
But there are a lot of stitches! It is knitted from the bottom up on circular needles, my favourite way to do stranded colourwork as it's all done in knit stitch, but you can get lulled into the pattern repetition and then find your strands get too tight! So you do need to be careful to keep your stitches on the needle nicely spaced whilst stranding across the back of them.
Carousel also features another poncho with a bold floral motif. Shown in different shades of Rowan Alpaca Soft, but it would look great in a two colours too.

Plume is our third shop in Rowan Alpaca Soft (love this yarn!) There's also Fann Street, a cabled hat from My London by Georgia Farrell and our free shop pattern - Colour Block Scarf.
If you like the look of a poncho you can see our other ponchos - Capo and Caponcho in our Gallery!
