Balmerino is a new locally grown wool from Fife.
Balmerino wool is made from the fleece of special sheep - Scottish merino sheep - a cross between merino and Shetland. So you get the extra softness of merino from a hardy sheep happy in the Scottish weather.
Grown in Scotland at a farm near Balmerino in Fife, the fleece is scoured, combed, spun and dyed in Yorkshire by experts.
This worsted spun yarn has lustre and drape and a generous 173m per 50g ball.
This yarn is produced on a nature friendly farm that promotes biodiversity, supporting insect and bird life. The sheep are managed organically and certified by the Soil Association and Pasture For Life.
