Islesburgh Toorie is the 2024 Shetland Wool Week hat pattern.
This year's Shetland Wool Week patrons are Addie and Margaret Doull from Islesburgh Farm in Northmavine, and their family, in recognition of their dedication to the Shetland Flock Book and commitment to preserving and championing the highest-quality Shetland wool.
Designed by Addie and Margaret’s daughter, Anne, the Islesburgh Toorie takes inspiration from the family’s Flock Book roots and the location of their farm featuring rams head and wave motifs.
The design is written for 5 colours but you can easily change that and even just use 2.
The pattern includes versions using different Shetland yarns but it's a great opportunity to check your stash.
The size of the hat is determined by needle size. You'll be knitting in the round so choose a needle type that you prefer to use to knit a small circumference.
- Small, 49cm head, 2.5mm needle
- Medium, 53cm head, 2.75mm needle
- Large, 57cm head, 3mm needle
The pattern is charted.
