Pattern by Ysolda Teague, Strokkur is a bottom up sweater knitted using Lèttlopi , an aran weight Icelandic wool.
The sweater is knit seamlessly on circular needles. You first knit the body, then two sleeves. The three pieces are put on a circular needle and the colourwork yoke is knitted, decreasing shapes the yoke and you finish with some garter stitch in the round.
This is an excellent first colourwork sweater as the colourwork is limited to 3 shades, and it’s a short and simple repeat. It’s also a good introduction to using a colourwork chart.
There are lots of Lèttlopi shades to choose from. You can see our full range here.
We used a dark grey (shade 058) for the body and ash (054) and spring green (1406) for the yoke.
